Nair appointed CEO of Liberty Global's LatAm unit ahead of spin-off

Liberty Global has announced the appointment of its chief technology officer and innovation officer Balan Nair as president and CEO of its Latin American and Caribbean operation once it splits off from the company’s cable business. Nair has been a leading executive at Liberty Global for the past 10 years, managing the group’s fixed and mobile network operations, broadband and video product development and strategic planning. He currently oversees a workforce of 7,500 employees in Europe, as well as the technology and product roadmap for Latin America.

In its statement, Liberty Global said the demerger of its Latin American and Caribbean group (LiLAC) is scheduled to occur around the end of the year, with Nair remaining in his current position with Liberty Global until the split-off is completed. Liberty Global CEO Mike Fries will serve as executive chairman of the Latin American company after the split-off, and the board is also expected to include Liberty Global chairman John Malone, directors Paul Gould and Miranda Curtis, and CFO Charles Bracken.

Liberty Latin America (LLA) has announced a number of changes to its organisational structure at the Executive Team level. In a statement the company said it will be removing the role of Chief Operating Officer, so that the business leaders for Cable & Wireless, VTR and Liberty Puerto Rico report directly to LLA CEO Balan Nair. Liberty Global says on track for FY growth as Q3 sales rise 2.5%

Liberty Global reported third-quarter revenues up 2.5 percent on an organic basis to USD 3.879 billion, and operating cash flow rose a faster 3.9 percent to USD 1.836 billion.
