Verhagen argues for net neutrality in Brussels

Dutch minister of economic affairs Maxime Verhagen has brought the Dutch legislation on net neutrality and its rationale to the attention of Eurocommissioner Neelie Kroes. The minister made the statement in a letter to Parliament, written in response to a Berec report on the state of affairs around net neutrality. Kroes believes net neutrality is an important principle and wants to promote that principle. The ministry of economic affairs believes Brussels will push for transparent conditions and not a legal requirement for neutrality. Verhagen only gave the general lines of the Berec report.
