Verhagen keeps newcomer space at 2x10 MHz for mobile auction

Dutch minister of economic affairs Verhagen has kept the reservation in the 800 MHz band of two plots of 2x5 MHz, which will be available for one or two newcomers at the upcoming auction. Verhagen will not implement the motion adopted on 21 June, whereby a majority wanted to broaden the reservation. Verhagen reiterate his objection to the "10+5" reservation, saying it anticipated an auction with five winners, undesirable considering that there are five main players on the market: KPN, T-Mobile Netherlands, Vodafone Netherlands, Tele2 Netherlands and Ziggo-UPC.
