Verizon acquires drone software company Skyward

Verizon purchased Skyward, a private company based in US that created a cloud-based information management platform designed for commercial drone operators. Terms of the transaction have not been disclosed. Skyward attracted investment from Verizon Ventures in 2015 in a round during which it received USD 4.1 million in funding. Other investors besides Verizon Ventures were Norwest Venture Partners, and Draper Associates. That capital was used to expand Skyward's engineering and product development team.
