Verizon commits to 5G Lifeline services in push for FCC approval of TracFone takeover

Verizon Communications's chief of consumer services, Ronan Dunne said the company will continue to support low-cost wireless service for three years if it is allowed to buy TracFone, the Wall Street Journal reported. Market parties against the deal asked the FCC to make Verizon continue with the Lifeline programme for no less than five years. Lifeline is a federal subsidy for low-income phone users, such as those receiving Medicaid or public-housing funds.
