Verizon tests flying cell site carried by drone

US operator Verizon said it conducted a test to see how wide an area it is possible to cover with a mobile signal transmitted by a cell site carried by a airborne drone. The company said the trial explored alternative ways of providing mobile coverage in the event of a disaster such as severe weather knocking out traditional cell towers.
