Verizon to switch off 3G network in December 2022

Wednesday 31 March 2021 | 09:15 CET | News
Verizon has confirmed plans to definitively shut down its 3G services in the US on 31 December 2022. In a statement, the company said it has been actively decommissioning its 3G CDMA network since 2016, with 99 percent of its customers now on 4G LTE or 5G, and that the switch off date will not be extended again. "We worked for the past several years to help those who still have 3G devices transfer to devices capable of accessing the 4G LTE or 5G networks and continue to actively work with remaining 3G customers to migrate them to new devices and technology," said the operator.
