Verizon Wireless LTE reaches 500 markets
Verizon Wireless announced that Parkersburg, West Virginia became the 500th market in the US with access to Verizon's LTE network. The Verizon Wireless LTE network now covers over 99 percent of Verizon Wireless' 3G network. The LTE network is available to 298 million people in 49 states, and Alaska will receive the service from next month. First launched in December 2010, the network now carries 57 percent of all data traffic on the operator's network.

Verizon Q2 profits up strongly on mobile growth

Verizon reported double-digit growth in second-quarter profits amid continued strong demand for its mobile and fibre broadband services. Revenues rose 4.3 percent from a year earlier to USD 29.8 billion, and operating profit jumped 16.0 percent to USD 6.6 billion. Verizon says Wind Mobile takeover is one of many options

Verizon Wireless is indeed looking into acquiring its smaller Canadian counterpart, Wind Mobile, but this is only "one of many" options being considered, the US operator told Bloomberg.
