Viavi report finds 12 operators field testing 5G

A total 25 operators are already lab testing 5G, and 12 have progressed to field testing, according to research published by Viavi Solutions. An additional four operators have announced their plans for 5G trials. While a wide range of spectrum is being tried for 5G, from sub-3GHz to 86 GHz, the most common bands tested to date are 28 GHz, used by eight operators, and 15 GHz, used by seven operators. The top speeds achieved in the first tests are over 35 Gbps, with Etisalat claiming the best result at 36 Gbps. The data was compiled from publicly available sources for information purposes only,
