Vietnam govt to sell 50% stakes in MobiFone, VNPT
The Vietnamese government has announced plans to accelerate its privatisation strategy by selling stakes in 93 state-owned companies by end-2020, Reuters reports, citing a government statement. The government seeks to sell stakes of up to 50 percent in mobile operator MobiFone and as well as in Vietnam Post and Telecommunications Group (VNPT). 

The government also plans to sell a stake of up to 35 percent in Agribank, the country's biggest bank by assets which was formally known as the Vietnam Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development, as well as in Vietnam National Coal-Mineral Industries, the country's largest coal miner, and in Vietnam Northern Food. The government also plans to sell up to 100 percent of Vietnam Paper by end-2020 and two power-generating units of Vietnam Electricity Group.
