
Vietnamese military-run Viettel has won the tender for four frequency bands in the 900 MHz spectrum in Peru. Peru's Agency for Promotion of Private Investment (ProInversion) has awarded Viettel 32 MHz of spectrum in the 899-915 MHz and 944-960 MHz bands in Lima and Callao provinces as well as in the 902-915 MHz and 947-960 MHz bands for the rest of the country.
Viettel committed to overall investments of USD 48.43 million for the 20-year license. Viettel has one year and a half to deploy its 900 MHz mobile network nationwide. The operator will also have to provide free broadband connection for 718 state institutions, including 438 schools, 112 hospitals and health centers and 168 municipalities by August 2014.
