Vimpelcom finds buyer for African units - report

Friday 21 June 2013 | 09:57 CET | News
Russia's Vimpelcom has found a "concrete" buyer for its assets in Africa, valued at USD 300 million to USD 400 million, and is near to selling its subsidiary in Laos, banking sources have told TMT Finance. The African units in question are Leo in Burundi and Telecel in the Central African Republic and Zimbabwe. The buyer is a private investor, rather than a telecom group. One banker told TMT Finance that the Laos sale was expected to be concluded within months. Vimpelcom appointed Standard Chartered to find a buyer in 2012.
