Vimpelcom sells 2 African operators for EUR 75 mln - report
Luxembourg-based Niel Telecom has agreed to buy Russian telecom group Vimpelcom's Burundi mobile subsidiary Leo and Telecel Central Africa for EUR 75 million, subject to closing conditions, people familiar with the matter told TMT Finance. Niel is a sister company of African oil and gas investor Niel Petroleum. Vimpelcom, which is being advised by Standard Chartered on the sale, is also thought to be seeking for a buyer for Telecel Zimbabwe but local consortium Empowerment Corporation (E Corp) must raise its stake to 60 percent first. Dubai's LapGreenN is thought to have been considering a bid. Niel is reportedly eyeing other opportunities in Africa and South America.

Vimpelcom seeks new buyer for Telecel Globe assets - report

Vimpelcom is apparently seeking to sell its Telecel Globe assets, despite agreeing to sell the company to Niel telecom for around EUR 75 million in 2013, TMT Finance reported. Niel Telecom had reportedly agreed to acquire Telecel Globe, which encompasses the Leo unit in Burundi and the Telecel Centrafrique unit in Central African Republic (CAR), subject only to closing conditions. However, TMT Finance cited its sources as saying that Niel had struggled to get sufficient financing for the deal.

Niel Telecom in talks to buy Telecel Burundi, CAR - report

Luxembourg-based Niel Telecom is in advanced talks to acquire Orascom's mobile operators in Burundi and the Central African Republic for over EUR 75 million, reports Jeune Afrique citing no sources. These were among the first assets Egyptian group Orascom Telecom decided to sell after its takeover by Russia's Vimpelcom. Other affiliates up for sale include Telecel Zimbabwe. Niel Telecom is headed by Lauren Foucher, said to have been oil group Maurel & Prom's advisor for Africa until 2009.

Russia's Vimpelcom has found a "concrete" buyer for its assets in Africa, valued at USD 300 million to USD 400 million, and is near to selling its subsidiary in Laos, banking sources have told TMT Finance.
