Vimpelcom to discuss Orascom stake purchase - report

Russian mobile operator Vimpelcom will discuss the possible purchase of a stake in Egyptian group Orascom Telecom in Amsterdam on 26 August during a meeting of the board of directors, business daily Vedomosti reported, citing sources close to Vimpelcom. Vimpelcom could not be immediately reached for a comment. In mid-August sources told Reuters that the company was in talks with Naguib Sawiris to buy 51 percent of Orascom. Sources also told Reuters the company was in negotiations to purchase Wind, Italy's third mobile operator.
