VimpelCom to sell Laos operations to local govt for USD 22 mln

Veon has announced that its subsidiary VimpelCom has agreed to sell its 78 percent stake in VimpelCom Lao to the Government of the Lao People's Democratic Republic for USD 22 million. Following the sale, the Lao government will own 100 percent of the share capital of VimpelCom Laos. VimpelCom Lao ended June this year with 289,000 customers. The transaction is subject to the satisfaction of certain conditions, including receipt of necessary corporate and regulatory approvals.
