Vip operator EBITDA down 26% on tough market conditions

Macedonia's Vip operator reported fourth-quarter revenues up 11.3 percent year-on-year to EUR 17.2 million, driven by its acquisition of cable operator Blizoo. Despite the acquisition, full-year revenues were still down 5 percent to EUR 62 million due to intense price competition in the mobile market and interconenction rate cuts. This led to a 26.3 percent drop in adjusted EBITDA for Q4 to EUR 3.3 million, and EBIT moved to a loss of EUR 4.9 million from a profit of EUR 2.4 million a year earlier. Profits were also hurt by a rise in costs for higher smartphone sales. Parent company Telekom
