Vipnet acquires three local fixed internet providers
Vipnet, the Croatian subsidiary of the Telekom Austria Group, announced the acquisition of three regional cable network providers, which have a total customer base of 6,500 customers. Vipnet gained access to 27,000 additional households in Zagreb and its suburbs as well as along the Dalmatian coast through the acquisition of the company OKI, the finalisation of purchasing agreements with Kabelska televizija Sibenik (KTS) and with the residential customer segment of Metronet, which was spun off from the rest of the company. All parties have agreed not to disclose any information about the purchasing price of the single transactions.
Vipnet said that direct access to the new customer base provides considerable cross- and up-selling potential for complementary mobile communication products and/or product bundles. In addition, these new acquisitions offer the opportunity to acquire new customers within the area covered by the company’s fixed net network.
In June 2011, the Telekom Austria Group announced the acquisition of B.net, the biggest cable network provider in Croatia, laying the foundations for the company’s successful convergence strategy. To continue along the convergence path that the company has embarked on and consistently pursued according to plan, the Telekom Austria Group has mainly opted for acquisition targets that specifically contribute to quickly expanding the present operational footprint.
