Virgin eyes network expansion, Arqiva deal - report

Virgin Media parent Liberty Global is considering expanding its UK network investment as it looks to accelerate its challenge to BT, reports The Telegraph. This would be on top of the existing GBP 3 billion Project Lightning network expansion programme. According to unnamed City sources, Virgin CEO Tom Mockridge has appealed to the Liberty Global board for additional funding for Project Lightning. Meanwhile, Virgin is understood to be in advanced talks to acquire Arqiva's loss-making Wi-Fi business, which operates thousands of hotspots across the UK. City sources said that Arqiva was looking
