Virgin Media CEO supports 3 UK, O2 merger

Virgin Media CEO Tom Mockridge has expressed support for the proposed merger of 3 UK and O2 UK. In a statement, he said that any competition concerns could be addressed without having to block the merger. Mockridge said that the EC had previously approved mobile mergers which resulted in the number of mobile network operators being reduced from four to three, subject to wholesale remedies. He believes that a combined 3 UK-O2 would have more to offer consumers, and more capacity for other providers looking to offer mobile services.
