Virgin plans new dramas to challenge Sky Atlantic - report

Virgin Media is looking to expand its programming making operations as it looks to mount a stronger pay-TV market challenge to Sky, reports The Telegraph. Virgin is understood to be close to announcing a partnership with production company All3Media to jointly commission four original drama series over the next two years. Meanwhile, Virgin's Irish unit is believed to be in advanced negotiations to acquire UTV Ireland from UK commercial broadcaster ITV. The new dramas will be offered exclusively to Virgin pay-TV customers to complete with the exclusive dramas shown by rival Sky on the popular
