Visa, Chevron USA to launch m-payments programme

Visa and Chevron USA will launch a mobile payments programme at more than 20 Chevron-branded stations, accepting any NFC (near-field communications) payment service. Launching later this fall at selected Chevron stations in San Francisco and Silicon Valley, the programme will offer consumers a way to pay at the pump with a range of mobile payment services. Already, an estimated 80 percent of Chevron customers in the US pay for gas at the pump using a credit or debit card. Each transaction is authorised through the Visa Token Service, which uses a digital identifier to process consumer
