Viva only bidder for Dominican Republic AWS spectrum

Friday 4 May 2018 | 14:16 CET | News
Viva Dominica was the only bidder for a 30MHz block of spectrum in the 1700-2100MHz (AWS) band auctioned by the Dominican Telecommunications Institute (Indotel), reports news website Servicios Informativos Nacionales. The operator reportedly offered USD 30 million for the spectrum, handing over 10 percent of the final amount by way of a guarantee after rivals Altice Dominicana and Claro Dominicana declined to take part in the tender. The companies previously acquired LTE frequencies in the AWS and 900MHz bands back in 2014.
