Vivendi appoints Havas COO Philippe as CFO
French media and telecom group Vivendi has appointed Herve Philippe as CFO, effective 1 January 2014. Previously CFO and COO at Havas, Philippe began his career with Credit National bank in the early 1980s, handling business loans in the Ile-de-France region. After eight years at the Paris stock market regulator COB, he joined Sagem as director of legal and administrative affairs. Philippe was hired by Havas in November 2005 and was appointed CFO in May 2010. 

The appointment shows the growing influence of shareholder Vincent Bollore at Vivendi, following his appointment as chairman from next year. Bollore owns 37 percent of Havas and was chairman of the French publisher until early this year.

Vivendi confirms Bollore as chairman

Vivendi's supervisory board has approved Vincent Bollore as the company's new chairman. Bollore, who holds around 5 percent of Viendi's shares, was first proposed as chairman last November, when Vivendi decided to exit the telecoms business in order to focus on its media assets. Vivendi names Twitter's Jacobs Stanton to supervisory board

Vivendi's board has nominated Twitter's vice president of international market development, Katie Jacobs Stanton, to join its supervisory board. Stanton has held the Paris-based post at Twitter since 2010. Prior to that she was a special advisor to the US state department and director of citizen participation at the White House. Vivendi Q4 revenues down 4.6% on SFR, forex effects

Vivendi reported a 4.6 percent drop in fourth-quarter revenues to EUR 5.95 billion, as its French telecom operator SFR continued to suffer from tough competition. Canal Plus increased sales 7.2 percent to EUR 1.45 billion, while SFR revenues were down 7.1 percent to EUR 2.58 billion. Blackrock builds stake in Vivendi

Blackrock has increased its stake in French media group Vivendi to over 5 percent. According to a filing with the securities regulator AMF, the US-based investment group had 5.001 percent of Vivendi's shares and voting rights as of 26 December. This makes it the second-largest shareholder in the company, after Vincent Bollore, who owns just over 5 percent of Vivendi and was recently named chairman of the group.
