Vivendi confirms 'rapprochement' of Canal Plus, BeIN Sports

Vivendi chairman Vincent Bollore has told French football clubs that there will be a "rapprochement" between the group's pay TV subsidiary, Canal Plus, and its rival BeIN Sports, L'Equipe reports. The sports daily writes that Vivendi is in advanced talks with the Qatari sovereign wealth fund to gain exclusive distribution rights or to buy BeIN Sports outright. In case of the former, as with Eurosport, an agreement is likely to mean that only CanalSat customers would be able to subscribe to BeIN Sports.
