Vivendi earnings, sales rise in Q1, plans dividend hike

French telecommunications and entertainment conglomerate Vivendi reported revenues up 3.8 percent to EUR 7.2 billion in the first quarter compared with the first quarter of 2010. EBITA, based on the IFRS accounting standard, came it a EUR 1.7 billion, up 7.2 percent on the year-earlier period, with "very strong performance" at Brazilian telecom operator GVT, videogame group Activision Blizzard and pay TV operator Canal Plus.
