Vivendi planning to up Telecom Italia stake to 15% - report

French media giant Vivendi is planning to increase its stake in Telecom Italia to as much as 15 percent once its current major shareholders exit the operator, according to unnamed sources cited by Reuters. Although no firm decision has been taken, Vivendi is keen on consolidating its imminent position as Telecom Italia's largest shareholder beyond the 8.3 percent it will take on from Telefonica as part-payment for its Brazilian broadband unit GVT. The French company is expected to start buying additional shares in the coming weeks, said the sources, after the Telefonica-dominated Telco
