Vivendi studies feasibility of SFR spin-off
French telecom and entertainment conglomerate Vivendi has launched an internal feasibility study into how to spin off its French telecom subsidiary, SFR, without upsetting the group's credit rating or causing a fall in its share price, the Wall Street Journal reports. People familiar with the matter said such a deal could happen as early as autumn 2014. "De-consolidating SFR from the business would probably create value", said Vivendi CFO Philippe Capron said in a conference call with analysts after the group announced a deal to sell most of its stake in video game company Activision Blizzard. Capron added that a possible spin-off of SFR would be considered by the board "in due time".

French telecom and entertainment group Vivendi announced that it will divest over 85 percent of its interest in computer game subsidiary Activision Blizzard for USD 8.2 billion, or USD 13.60 per share. Vivendi seeks to raise cash from Activision - report

Vivendi is exploring ways to extract cash from its games subsidiary, Activision Blizzard, after failing to sell part of its 61 percent stake, people close to the matter told the Financial Times. Two options considered during talks to prepare the disposal were an Activision IPO or bond offering. Activision has USD 4.6 billion in net cash; Vivendi has USD 16.88 billion of debt. Vivendi declied comment and Activision could not be reached.

SFR preparing to float if market conditions allow - chairman

Vivendi and its French telecom subsidiary SFR are readying to float the operator if markets conditions allow it, said SFR chairman Stephane Roussel at a telecom and internet conference organised by Les Echos. While SFR did not give an official target date, Vivendi management is reportedly considering listing the operator towards the end of 2014 or in early 2015. Roussel said the plan would be for SFR to become a CAC 40 index company.

Vivendi net profit down 18.5% on bad quarter at SFR

Vivendi reported revenue down 1 percent to EUR 7.05 billion in the first quarter compared to the year-earlier period. EBITA decreased by 17.2 percent to EUR 1.34 billion, in line with its outlook, and mainly due to a EUR 233 million decrease at its French telecom subsidiary, SFR.
