Vivendi to refrain from appealing TIM 'golden power' move

France's Vivendi has decided to refrain from appealing the Italian government's move to activate the so-called "golden power" rule of 2012 on Telecom Italia (TIM), reports Il Sole 24 Ore. On 16 October Italy's prime minister Paolo Gentiloni signed a decree requiring TIM to install state-backed directors and a special appointee to handle security matters. Although the move marks the first time the Italian government has activated special powers allowing it to intervene in strategically important companies, Vivendi is wary of losing its investment in the former incumbent and fears potentially
