Vodacom and MTN aim to sort out spectrum auction dispute with ICASA

Tuesday 7 September 2021 | 10:31 CET | News
South African operators Vodacom and MTN are trying to settle a wireless spectrum auction dispute with the Independent Communications Authority of South Africa out of court to avoid a prolonged legal battle, Bloomberg reported. MTN and Telkom have both appealed to courts about the planned structure of the auction. MTN Group CEO Ralph Mupita said mediation efforts are under way to find a simpler and faster way forward, adding that discussions are encouraging and they need to find each other between now and the middle of September.
