Vodacom and Safaricom complete acquisition of M-Pesa brand from Vodafone

Vodacom South Africa and Safaricom said they have completed the acquisition of the M-Pesa brand from Vodafone, through a newly created joint venture. The transaction was announced in 2019 and will accelerate M-Pesa's growth in Africa by giving Vodacom and Safaricom full control of the brand, product development and support services, as well as the opportunity to expand M-Pesa into new African markets, they said
