Vodacom Tanzania forecasts profit slump on Sim registration woes

Thursday 13 February 2020 | 10:57 CET | News
Vodacom Tanzania has warned of dwindling profit after one third of its customers failed to register their SIM cards using the biometric system, reports the Daily News. Vodacom said in a trading update for Q4 2019 that some 5.0 million of its 15.6 million customers were not registered. It said Tanzania Communications Regulatory Authority (TCRA) directed that customers be barred in phases, which led to the barring of 1.7 million out of 5.0 million customers in January.
