Vodafone and Orange to pay EUR 14 mln to Telefonica

Vodafone Spain and Orange Spain must pay EUR 14.08 million to Telefonica for the provision of universal services in 2010, announced Spanish regulator CNMC. The requirement to provide a baseline level of services to every resident in Spain has been shared by the country's three main operators since 2003, although Telefonica remains the company designated by the government to ensure provision of universal services irrespective of geographical location. Given that Telefonica has already paid the EUR 43.58 million total corresponding to 2010, Vodafone and Orange have now been ordered to pay EUR
