Vodafone CEO criticises Italian broadband delay

Monday 15 June 2015 | 09:41 CET | News
Vodafone Group CEO Vittorio Colao has criticised the delays in implementing a national broadband development plan in Italy, which he believes is being held back by the "neo-monopolistic" stance of Telecom Italia and the government's lack of a broader vision. "Rolling out cables and fibre is the first thing, but then you have to intervene in the legal, administrative and regulatory structure," said Colao in an interview with La Repubblica. He also said that if Europe had a single legal and regulatory framework there would be room for just four telecoms players, one of them being Vodafone.
