Vodafone CEO sees further consolidation in Europe

Monday 27 June 2016 | 17:17 CET | News
Vodafone Group CEO Vittorio Colao expects more consolidation across the European telecoms market in the coming years. In an interview with The Irish Times, Colao said he expected 3-4 pan-European telecoms giants to emerge, adding that there was a need for stronger, bigger operators that can invest in networks. He said such a move would be in everybody's interests. Colao said that French company Orange had a "clear ambition to be multi-country", and suggested that links between Deutsche Telekom and BT will become more important over time.
