Vodafone is considering a takeover of German operator Deutsche Glasfaser, the site Golem.de reported citing a business source. The acquisition of the FTTH operator would help strengthen its competitive position versus Deutsche Telekom, while at the same time the company pursues a link-up with Liberty Global's local subsidiary, Unitymedia. Deutsche Glasfaser is one of the few German operators to pursue a full-fibre roll-out and recently introduced 1 Gbps speeds for its customers. It was started by Dutch investment company Reggeborgh and more recently KKR took majority control.
