Vodafone, Cosmote, Wind apply for Greek GSM licences
The Greek regulator EETT announced that by the 21 October deadline for registering interest in GSM licences, the three existing mobile operators, Vodafone Hellas, Cosmote and Wind Hellas, expressed their interest in renewing their spectrum blocks. Rumours that CYTA Hellas would also register an interest in the auction did not materialise.

Greece to start spectrum auction on 14 November

Greek regulator EETT confirmed that the auction of frequencies in the 900 and 1800 MHz bands will open on 14 November. The three existing mobile operators, Vodafone Greece, Cosmote and Wind Hellas, have all qualified to participate in the auction. Greece starts auction for GSM bands

The Greek regulator EETT approved the publication of the request for proposals based on which the auction of frequencies in the GSM bands 900 MHz and 1800 MHz will take place. The tender procedure was finalized with consideration of the positions of the European Commission and is therefore compatible with the current European regulatory framework. Wind Hellas objects to GSM licence prices

The starting auction price of EUR 46.6 million for each 5MHz block in the 900MHz band set by the Greek regulator EETT is excessively expensive, according to Wind Hellas.
