Wind Hellas objects to GSM licence prices

The starting auction price of EUR 46.6 million for each 5MHz block in the 900MHz band set by the Greek regulator EETT is excessively expensive, according to Wind Hellas. The operator said in a statement that the price does not correspond to the market conditions of the Greek economy, and it is not a fair price as it is more than twice as high as the European average for similar licence renewals. According to a study prepared by Compass Lexecon for Wind Hellas, the European average renewal price for 5MHz blocks in the 900MHz band for a 15-year period is approximately EUR 20 million.
