Vodafone Czech Republic launches 5G in Prague Metro

Vodafone Czech Republic has launched 5G services in the Prague Metro, reports Mobilmania.cz. A total of 15 stations are covered, and this is planned to expand by February 2021 to 36 stations.

To start, a section between Dejvicka and Museum metro stations is covered on the line A, and the section between Smichovske and Ceskomoravska stations, save stations Narodni Triada and Namesti Republiky, is covered on the line B.

Vodafone uses the 1,800 MHz band, on which the 4G network runs simultaneously thanks to Dynamic Spectrum Sharing (DSS) technology.

A consortium formed by several operators covered the metro together in order to build the passive network. The active part of the network is already handled by each operator individually,  and Vodafone was the first to install the 5G technology.
