Vodafone Europe CEO Combes picked to head SFR
Vivendi has chosen Vodafone Europe CEO Michel Combes to become the next chairman and CEO of French operator SFR and a member of the Vivendi management board starting on 1 August. Vodafone said that Combes will stay in his post until 31 July and that an announcement on succession plans for his role would be made in due course. Combes, who has been in charge of Vodafone Europe since October 2008, began his career at France Telecom in 1986, worked as technical advisor to the French minister of transport from 1991 to 1995, and served as chairman and CEO of GlobeCast from 1995 to 1999. He returned to France Telecom in January 2003 as CFO and stayed with the incumbent until 2006, when he was appointed chairman and CEO of French broadcast infrastructure company TDF.

Alcatel board agrees new CEO's salary, bonus structure

Alcatel-Lucent's new, CEO Michel Combes, will receive a fixed gross salary of EUR 1.2 million and a variable compensation element up to the same amount liked to the company's performance. Combes stays to oversee Vodafone Europe transition

Vodafone Europe CEO Michel Combes will stay several more months to ensure the transition and appointment of a new management team at Vodafone in Europe, Dow Jones reports. Combes earlier announced his departure from Vodafone to become CEO of French operator SFR. However, he abandoned the French job when Jean-Bernard Levy, chairman of SFR's parent Vivendi, stepped down. Stephane Roussel, Vivendi's head of HR, was named the new CEO of SFR.

Vivendi completes EUR 1.5 billion credit line

Vivendi has completed a new 5-year, EUR 1.5 billion credit line to replace two credit lines totalling EUR 2.7 billion, which were due to expire in February 2013 (EUR 1 billion) and August 2013 (EUR 1.7 billion). French operator SFR's CEO, Frank Esser, is preparing to step down, writes Le Figaro citing unnamed sources. Esser came from Mannesmann and has headed SFR since 2000.
