Vodafone Germany confirms Vodafone TV specifications
Vodafone Germany has unveiled a DSL router with DLNA (Digital Living Network Alliance) standards, which enable end users to connect all network-based devices to a home network The Vodafone DSL Box also includes Vodafone Media Manager software that automatically scans and manages all digital media available on the network. The software includes Packet Video's Twonky Software enabling wireless transfers and playing of all digital content on the network. At the same time, Vodafone confirmed the upcoming launch of its own hybrid IPTV service called Vodafone TV. The service is enabled with the Vodafone TV set-top box, which enables customers to continue to use their current satellite based TV service plus Vodafone's IPTV service, which can be used with a 2 Mbps or more DSL connection. Vodafone also signed a licensing agreement with pay-TV operator Sky Deutschland to offer all Sky channels to the users of Vodafone TV. The package further includes 120 digital TV channels, 60 radio channels plus Vodafone's video-on-demand service and the set-top box includes a 320 GB harddisk to record TV content. More details will be unveiled at the commercial launch sometime during the autumn.
