Vodafone Greece launches Vodafone Giga Network

Tuesday 3 December 2019 | 08:55 CET | News

Vodafone Greece said it launched its Vodafone Giga Network which brings fibre speeds to households. Giga Home delivers Giga Fiber 100 and 200 Mbps speeds and powerful Giga WiFi in every corner of the home. In addition, Giga Home brings the Vodafone Giga WiFi Calling service that allows all mobile customers to make and receive calls to their mobile phone wherever there is Wi-Fi, even if the mobile signal is limited.

Also, the Vodafone Giga WiFi service's Ready team expert can come to end-users' homes and make sure WiFi reaches every corner of their house.

New generation networks for 450,000 households and businesses

Two years after the launch of a major fibre optic network development project in various parts of the country, Vodafone Greece now has an active proprietary Fiber Network FTTH and FTTC that connects 300,000 households and businesses in various regions of the country.

Vodafone has commercial FTTC services through its privately owned network in many areas of the capital, such as Neos Kosmos, Ampelokipi, Pagrati, Akharnes, Kipseli, Poligono and Kato Patisia, Akropoli, Emporiko Trigono and Phreattida, which also offers FTTH services, as is the case in Piraia and Virona.

It also completed construction and has commercial FTTC services in most of Central and Western Thessaloniki, and has begun commercialising high-speed services through its network in Patras, almost throughout the Volou complex in the city of Kozanis.

At the same time, Vodafone is working intensively on the construction of FTTH networks in major urban centres, having begun design and construction for the development of the FTTH network in areas across Alexandras Avenue in Athens, East Thessaloniki and Peraia, as well as in the centre of Patras. In addition, the completion of FTTC networks in Veria and Ioannina is ongoing.

With the completion of Vodafone's FTTH and FTTC networks, its proprietary Giga network will connect more than 450,000 households and businesses.
