Vodafone Ireland covers nearly 87% of population with 4G

Mobile operator Vodafone Ireland said its 4G network now covers 86.7 percent of the population. Mobile data usage among its 2.3 million customers rose by 65.4 percent in a year. Vodafone said it has completed FttP technical trials through its EUR 450 million joint venture with electric utility ESB on 300 homes in Cavan, achieving speeds of 940 Mbps. Vodafone Ireland has 2.1 million mobile customers and 275,000 fixed phone customers at the end of 2014. More than 82 percent of mobile customers use mobile data and 68.4 percent of customers have smartphones, up by 11 percentage points in a year.
