
Vodafone India has launched its 4G network on the 1800 MHz band. The service is now available in Kochi, Kerala. Vodafone LTE services are available on 4G-enabled smartphones from Apple, Samsung, Micromax, Microsoft, Lava and Xolo. Customers will also have access to HD video streaming, mobile gaming and two-way video calling.
Vodafone’s 4G service in Kochi will be commercially available for customers from 14 December. The network is built on a fibre backhaul, and is supported by Vodafone’s own 3G services on the 2100 MHz band.
Vodafone said it will soon expand its 4G roll-out to cover Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru and Kolkata in the first phase. Testing of 4G services in these locations has already started.
For its customers in Kochi, Vodafone has introduced special 4G offers. The operator is offering a free upgrade to 4G for all its customers in Kochi along with a Superfast 4G SIM. Users can also watch movies with a Free Unlimited movie subscription via Hungama Play. Subscribers will have access to over 7,500 titles (including 200 Malayalam movies) for three months. In addition, 4G service subscribers will be able to listen and stream songs with free unlimited music streaming on Vodafone Music with a catalogue of over 1.2 million songs.
Vodafone is also offering 100 percent extra data for all its 4G Red customers for three months. Packs ranging from 120MB at INR 29 to 20GB at INR 2,499 are available.
