Vodafone loses appeal over net neutrality fine

Friday 5 February 2016 | 11:55 CET | News
A court in Rotterdam has rejected an appeal from Vodafone Netherlands against a fine for violating net neutrality regulations. The ACM fined the company EUR 200,000 in late 2014 for an offer of free HBO with a 4G subscription, which ran in September 2013 as a temporary promotion. Both the regulator and court found that Vodafone's offer discriminated against other internet services. This element of the Dutch net neutrality legislation will end later this year, when the new EU rules take effect.
