Vodafone, Metroweb to bring 300 Mbps FTTH service to Turin

Turin has become the third Italian city after Milan and Bologna to be able to offer a 300 Mbps FTTH service thanks to the 200,000 km of fibre-optic cables being rolled out by Metroweb and Vodafone Italia, reports Il Sole 24 Ore. Metroweb is investing EUR 125 million in extending the network from the current figure of 70,000 households to 200,000 by the end of the year, rising to 335,000, equivalent to 75-80 percent of the population, in 2017. The broadband provider has also signed a deal with local utility Iren to deploy its fibre optic cables via existing heating and public lighting ducts,
