Vodafone Netherlands adds credit card support to Wallet
Vodafone Netherlands announced the launch of a new 'mobile credit card' for use with its Vodafone Wallet. Offered in cooperation with International Card Services, the card will be linked to the Wallet app, allowing users to make contactless payments with their NFC smartphones. Payments up to EUR 25 would not require a PIN code. 

The mobile credit card is initially available to customers with a Visa World Card, Vodafone subscription and Android smartphone with NFC. ICS has certified a number of popular Android phones for use with the service, including the Samsung Galaxy S series, A5 and Alpha, as well as the HTC One range. Launched a year ago, the Vodafone Wallet has to date relied on customers topping up an associated Visa prepaid card. With the new agreement with ICS, the service should be much easier to use for a wider group of consumers.

Vodafone tests public transport payments with NFC Sim

Vodafone Netherlands announced a test of public transport payments over smartphones. The operator is working with Trans Link Systems, the company running the Dutch public transport contactless card system, and the Amsterdam public transport operator GVB. Following a successful internal test, Vodafone plans a broader pilot with around 100 people in Amsterdam using a NFC-based system and Sim card on which their public transport card is loaded. Vodafone Wallet, one year after launch

Vodafone has launched its Vodafone Wallet mobile payment app in five European countries: Germany, Italy, Spain, the Netherlands and the UK. A prepaid card is the only payment option so far, but Vodafone has announced it will work with Visa and Carta Worldwide to add payment cards and expand the cooperation with banks.
