Vodafone Netherlands adopts cloud-based VoLTE, Wi-Fi calling

Ericsson and Vodafone Netherlands have deployed a cloud-based and fully virtualised Voice over LTE (VoLTE) and Wi-Fi calling platform, claiming this is a first in the country. The platform is based on a commercial Network Functions Virtualisation (NFV) deployment of Ericsson IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) and Ericsson Evolved Packet Core (EPC). The complete cloud-based platform also includes Virtual Network Functions (VNF) for Wi-Fi calling, policy control and application server domain.
