Vodafone New Zealand voice traffic jumps 70% amid covid-19 lockdown

Vodafone New Zealand reports massive increases in data and voice traffic in its network, following lockdown measures to fight the covid-19 epidemic. The number of voice calls jumped to more than 70 percent above usual levels on 23 March. The operator also reports that phone calls on the Vodafone New Zealand network continue to be around 60 percent higher than usual levels, as people check in with friends and extended family, plus workers switch to conference calls to continue operating.
