Vodafone NL backs more govt transparency on warrants

Vodafone Netherlands said the local government does not have direct access to its network for surveillance of customers. Following the release of Vodafone Group's first report on law enforcement requests for access to customer data, Vodafone NL spokesman Joost Galema said the Netherlands was not among the countries where the government had direct access to the network. In six countries, Vodafone, as well as other telecom operators, are required to provide direct access to the network for government taps. The Dutch operator said it will not be releasing its own statistics on government
