Vodafone NL sees 4G bringing new services

The arrival of 4G networks will make it easier for mobile operators to launch certain services, according to Vodafone Netherlands. Its network strategy chief Marcel van de Biggelaar said in an interview on Dutch radio that the company plans to launch mobile payment services by the end of this year and is also considering a car registration system. The new services should help offset the erosion in revenues from the growing use of free, OTT services by mobile customers. Van de Biggelaar said Vodafone is seeing flat voice traffic and a sharp drop in SMS use, while data traffic is growing
